Advertising & Affiliate Disclosure
1. Purpose
This Disclosure explains how Nativity Ltd (“Optimal,” “we,” “us”) handles commercial relationships with brands and partners, how partner links work, and how we measure outbound clicks.
It is part of our consumer transparency suite and is incorporated into the Terms of Service where applicable. It does not authorize spam or undisclosed promotions (see Community Guidelines and the Acceptable Use Policy).
We aim to comply with applicable advertising and consumer-protection rules, including FTC endorsement guides in the United States and similar honesty-in-advertising principles elsewhere.
2. Commercial relationships
2.1 Certified
Optimal may list products, manufacturers, or retailers relevant to pregnancy nutrition.
Labels such as “Certified,” “featured,” or “partner” mean the listing has a commercial, quality, or integration relationship with us, as disclosed in context. They do not mean we ran a clinical trial of the product on users, or that a Clinician has prescribed it.
Listing criteria may be published in Help. Listing can be revoked.
2.2 Outbound Links
Some links leave Optimal for a third-party merchant, brand, or marketplace.
We may receive compensation when you click a partner link, complete a purchase or signup, use a tracked coupon, or through placement fees or similar arrangements.
Compensation can affect which brands appear. It does not change the Medical Disclaimer or turn content into medical advice.
2.3 Sponsored Content
If we publish sponsored articles, newsletters, or display ads, we will label them clearly (for example “Sponsored,” “Ad,” or “Paid partnership”).
We do not use third-party advertising-network tracking pixels for behavioral advertising. If that changes, we will update this Disclosure, the Cookie Policy, and the Privacy Policy.
2.4 Endorsements
Community users who promote products for compensation must disclose that connection. Undisclosed paid promotion violates the Community Guidelines.
3. Sponsored Placements
3.1 Overview
Certain items in the food picker may be paid placements from brand partners. Each is labeled (for example “Sponsored”) and the brand’s name.
A paid placement does not affect nutrition scoring. Compensation may determine whether an item appears as a sponsored row. It does not determine how foods rank as answers to your search.
3.2 Placement
Placements are chosen from the food category you are viewing. If you opt out of first-party personalization, nothing else about you is involved.
Unless you opt out, a brand may additionally target on the following:
- country, and region within a country (region is only used together with country);
- age, as a band only (not an exact age or date of birth).
If you turn on the second switch in the Privacy Center, which starts off because these concern your health, a brand may also target on:
- stage of pregnancy, as a trimester band only (not a week number or due date);
- whether you are currently short on a given nutrient, as a broad band only (not a measurement);
- dietary or cuisine affinity, derived from foods you have logged.
This list is closed. Adding to it is a change to this Disclosure and to the Privacy Policy.
3.3 Categories
We do not currently permit targeting on ethnicity or ancestry, medical diagnoses or conditions, or blood or laboratory results. Ancestry, where collected, is used to read blood-marker reference ranges against the appropriate clinical cohort. We do not reuse it for commercial selection.
A brand may ask us to exclude a group from seeing a product for safety reasons.
3.4 Matching
A brand may buy a description of an audience. Your device decides privately whether you match it. No attribute about you is transmitted in order to select a placement. A brand receives aggregate delivery figures only, released only where a minimum number of people stand behind the figure.
To measure results we record, under a pseudonym and with no user id, that a placement was shown and whether the food was then added. That record can show that you matched an audience, but not which attribute made you match. An audience that used your trimester band or nutrient shortfall can only match people who turned the second switch on. If you have opted out of personalised placements, none of this applies to you beyond the food category you are viewing.
Because matching is local, sponsored placements introduce no advertising cookies, tracking pixels, or third-party ad-network requests. Outbound click measurement remains as described elsewhere.
3.5 Notifications
Section 3 describes items shown inside the food picker. A sponsor message delivered as a push or in-app notification requires its own consent. Turning on placement personalization does not turn on notifications, and turning on notifications does not change which placements you see.
Notifications use a shorter list: country and region, and age band. A sponsor may not target a notification on your stage of pregnancy, whether you are currently short on a nutrient, or dietary or cuisine affinity. Matching still happens on your device. No attribute about you is transmitted in order to select a notification, and we do not build a list of who should receive one.
The refused categories in Section 3.3 apply to notifications without exception.
A sponsor supplies structured fields (brand, offer, short detail). We compose the notification in the voice you chose. Where a sponsor’s own wording is shown, it is quoted and attributed to them by name.
4. Analytics
Some organizations pay us for aggregate, anonymized analytics: what a population eats and how that changes. Figures are released only above a minimum group size and never contain a record about an identifiable person. Detail is in the Privacy Policy.
Buying analytics never buys a message to you. Those are separate products, and there is no path between them. An organization that pays for population data cannot, by doing so, reach you with a notification, an email, a placement, or a request that we send one on its behalf.
An organization may buy analytics and also sponsor a placement. Doing both does not combine them. Sponsorship is still chosen as Section 3 describes. Analytics remain aggregate.
5. Outbound Measurement
When you click certain brand or partner outbound links, we may record a first-party event describing the link (for example which brand, destination, and surface).
Stored click records are designed without your user id and without a stored IP address. Your IP may be processed briefly to rate-limit abuse, then discarded from that record.
We measure clicks to understand which surfaces are useful, calculate partner reporting, and detect fraud. This is not a third-party advertising cookie network.
After you land on a partner site, that partner may use its own cookies and analytics. We do not control partner sites. See the Cookie Policy.
6. Material Connection
A material connection exists when Optimal (or a speaker we control) has a financial, employment, or family relationship with a brand that might affect the weight of a recommendation.
Depending on the surface, disclosure may appear as nearby text, labels such as “Partner,” “Affiliate,” “Sponsored,” or “Certified,” this Disclosure linked from footers or brand pages, or in-product help.
Assume partner and Certified outbound paths may be monetized unless we clearly state that a link is purely non-commercial.
We do not knowingly make false product claims. Brand-supplied claims remain the brand’s responsibility.
7. Editorial Independence
Educational and methodology content (Learning Center, nutrient explainers, scoring methodology) is developed under Editorial & Content Standards. Commercial partners cannot rewrite safety language to sell products.
Engine outputs (Day Score, shortfalls, optimizer suggestions, blood-marker comparisons) are computed from your logs and reference data. They are not sold placements. See Automated Decisions.
The AI assistant is not a paid product placement. It remains subject to safety redirects and the Medical Disclaimer.
We may accept listing fees for Certified placement, rank partner links by commercial terms on commercial surfaces, and correct factual errors reported by brands when accurate.
8. Not Medical Endorsement
Reference to a product, brand, ingredient, or supplement (Certified, partner-linked, user-discussed, or catalogued) is not:
- a medical diagnosis, prescription, or treatment plan;
- a guarantee of safety or efficacy for your pregnancy;
- a substitute for advice from your Clinician;
- an assertion that the product is appropriate given your allergies, medications, or conditions.
Pregnancy involves heightened risk for certain nutrients and foods (for example excess retinol, mercury in some fish, unpasteurized products, alcohol). Always verify supplements and diet changes with your Clinician. Read the Medical Disclaimer.
9. Partner Sites
Prices, stock, and descriptions on partner sites can change without notice to us. We are not responsible for partner fulfillment, shipping, returns, or privacy practices on third-party sites.
If a partner link is broken, tell [email protected].
The Services are directed to users 18+. We do not knowingly run partner programs directed at children.
10. Characterization
Some privacy laws regulate “sale” or “sharing” of personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.
Our outbound click design (no user id on the click record; no stored IP on that record; first-party measurement) is described here for transparency. The legal characterization, consumer opt-out rights, and any browser-signal handling live in the Privacy Policy, including its US annex.
We do not sell meal logs, pregnancy timing, or Special Category Health Data to data brokers for advertising.
