Community Guidelines & UGC Terms
1. Purpose & Scope
1.1 These Community Guidelines apply to the Optimal community forum at https://community.beingoptimal.org and any related discussion surfaces we designate (together, the Community).
1.2 The Community is provided by Nativity Ltd (Optimal, we, us) using software and hosting from a Community Platform Provider. These Guidelines are part of your agreement with us and are incorporated into the Terms of Service. The Acceptable Use Policy also applies.
1.3 Participation is optional. You can use the planner without posting.
1.4 The Community is for peer support, product feedback, and educational discussion about nutrition and pregnancy wellness in general terms. It is not telemedicine, midwifery, or emergency care. See the Medical Disclaimer.
2. Eligibility & Accounts
2.1 You must meet the age and eligibility rules in the Terms. Minimum age 18 is self-attested.
2.2 Community access may require an Optimal account and acceptance of these Guidelines, the Terms, Privacy Policy, Medical Disclaimer, and Acceptable Use Policy.
2.3 One person for one primary account. Impersonation, ban evasion, and credential sharing to evade moderation are prohibited.
2.4 Official staff and moderator accounts are labeled. Treat moderation instructions as binding for Community participation.
3. Authentication & Identity
3.1 Where enabled, you may sign into the Community from the main Optimal application, using single sign-on through our Authentication Provider.
3.2 Single sign-on is designed to share the identity needed to create or link a forum profile: typically your email address, display name, and a stable account id, as configured with the Community Platform Provider.
3.3 It is not designed to share pregnancy timing, meals, labs, scores, or AI conversations. Those stay in the main application under the Privacy Policy.
3.4 What you type in a post, reply, or message is a disclosure of your own choosing. That content is user-generated content (UGC) subject to these Guidelines, forum visibility settings, and the Privacy Policy.
4. Conduct
4.1 Treat others with respect. Stay within the topics of pregnancy nutrition, product use, learning content, and related lived experience. Use a content warning where graphic medical detail or loss is involved. Do not share another person’s private information without consent.
4.2 Without limiting the Acceptable Use Policy, you may not:
- harass, threaten, stalk, or incite violence;
- post hate speech, slurs, or content that demeans people based on protected characteristics;
- take actions that sexually exploit or endanger minors;
- spam, scam, phish, or run undisclosed commercial solicitation;
- scrape the Community or harvest user data;
- bypass bans, rate limits, or security controls;
- post malware or attempt unauthorized access;
- infringe others’ intellectual property;
- share another user’s private messages without permission;
- impersonate staff, clinicians, or other users.
5. Peer Support Only
5.1 Users must not present themselves as providing professional medical, midwifery, dietetic, or pharmacological advice as a substitute for care from a licensed clinician.
5.2 Sharing personal experience (what you ate, what your midwife suggested for you) is generally allowed if you frame it as personal, not as a prescription for others.
5.3 You must not pressure others to ignore clinical advice, stop prescribed treatment, or avoid emergency care.
5.4 If someone appears to be in medical distress, urge them to contact local emergency services or their clinician. Moderators may lock threads that turn into crisis handling beyond peer support. Optimal is not an emergency service.
5.5 We may remove or limit content that, in our reasonable judgment, is dangerous pregnancy misinformation or other harmful health guidance. Examples include encouraging alcohol bingeing in pregnancy, presenting high-risk foods as safe for everyone, promoting megadoses as harmless, urging people to avoid prenatal care, marketing unproven “cures”, or encouraging extreme restriction in pregnancy without clinical framing.
5.6 Good-faith discussion of evolving evidence is allowed. Bad-faith harm is not. Moderators are not a scientific journal. Enforcement is pragmatic and safety-oriented.
5.7 Scores, optimizer suggestions, lab comparisons, and AI assistant outputs are informational. Do not treat another user’s screenshots as a diagnosis. See the Medical Disclaimer.
5.8 Licensed professionals who join as members should not create a clinician-patient relationship through the forum unless they already have a lawful care relationship offline. Disclose conflicts of interest if you recommend products. See the Advertising & Affiliate Disclosure.
6. Permissions
6.1 UGC includes posts, replies, private messages (where enabled), profiles, avatars, uploads, links, and similar materials you submit to the Community.
6.2 You represent that you have the rights needed to post your UGC and that it does not violate law, these Guidelines, or others’ rights.
6.3 You choose what health information to share. Public categories are visible to other users and may be indexed or quoted according to platform settings. Prefer minimizing highly sensitive detail in public threads.
6.4 Separately from the forum, the main app may allow user-created custom ingredients or similar content. Intellectual-property complaints for that content are covered by the Copyright & DMCA Policy. Conduct rules in the Acceptable Use Policy still apply.
7. Content & Licensing
7.1 As between you and Optimal, you own your UGC, subject to others’ rights and third-party licenses.
7.2 By submitting UGC to the Community, you grant Nativity Ltd a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, operate, and moderate that content. That includes storing, displaying, and transmitting it on the Community and related Services; making technical copies, previews, translations, and search indexes needed to run the forum; and sublicensing those rights to the Community Platform Provider as needed to operate the Community.
7.3 The license ends for public display when the UGC is removed or anonymized. Residual copies may remain in backups, caches, and legal holds.
7.4 You grant us permission to display your chosen username and avatar with your UGC as part of ordinary forum operation.
7.5 Product suggestions you post may be used by us without obligation to you.
8. Moderation & Appeals
8.1 We may, but are not obligated to, monitor the Community. We may remove, edit, lock, move, or limit UGC; issue warnings; mute, suspend, or ban accounts; and report unlawful content to authorities.
8.2 Enforcement may consider severity, intent, history, risk of harm, and legal risk.
8.3 You may appeal a moderation action by emailing [email protected] with your username, a link or description of the content, and why you believe the action was wrong. We aim to respond within a reasonable time. Decisions after appeal are final except where law requires more process.
8.4 There is no right to continued posting privileges.
8.5 Spam filters, trust levels, flags, and similar tools of the Community Platform Provider may apply.
9. Reporting
9.1 Use the platform’s flag or report controls where available.
9.2 Or email [email protected] for safety and abuse, or [email protected] for legal claims, with the URL or topic title, username(s) involved, a description of the issue, screenshots if helpful, and your contact email.
9.3 For immediate danger, contact local emergency services first. Then notify us if it is relevant to platform safety.
9.4 For copyright, follow the Copyright & DMCA Policy. A general flag is not a formal copyright notice.
10. Account Closure & Forum
10.1 Community personal data handling is described in the Privacy Policy.
10.2 If you delete your Optimal account, your forum profile will be anonymized in accordance with our Privacy Policy, and your posts will remain under that anonymous identifier. Backups and legal holds may retain data longer.
10.3 We may modify, suspend, or discontinue the Community, in whole or part, with or without notice, subject to mandatory law.
11. Links & Commercial Posts
11.1 Links to third-party sites are at your own risk. Linked content is not endorsed unless explicitly stated.
11.2 Undisclosed affiliate or paid promotion violates these Guidelines. Partner programs are disclosed under the Advertising & Affiliate Disclosure.
