  • Educational content is not medical advice.
  • We distinguish your logged data, general guidance, how our models work, and uncertainty.
  • Science pages are not for sale. See the Advertising & Affiliate Disclosure.

1. Purpose

1.1 These standards describe how Nativity Ltd (Optimal, we, us) sources, labels, and presents nutrition data and educational content in the Services, including the food catalog, Learning Center articles, Help guides, methodology explainers, and in-product educational copy.

1.2 They do not replace the Medical Disclaimer, Terms of Service, Privacy Policy, or Community Guidelines. Forum posts follow the Community Guidelines, not this editorial desk.

2. Principles

2.1 We present planning context, not medical advice.

2.2 Content must not instruct you to defy clinical care. If product content appears to conflict with your clinician’s advice, follow your clinician.

2.3 Prefer measurable quantities, ranges, and sources.

2.4 Food nutrient values depend on basis (for example, raw or dry versus cooked). Different bases are not interchangeable.

2.5 We will provide notice when data are missing, averaged, or conflicting.

2.6 We do not present the Services as emergency care. If a situation is beyond nutrition, contact your provider or local urgent care.

3. Nutrient Data

3.1 Food composition values used in the catalog and calculation engine come primarily from the Nutrient Data Source (USDA FoodData Central). That source is a public nutrient composition dataset. It is not a processor of your personal data and does not receive your meal logs or account data by being used as a composition reference.

3.2 Catalog entries may be curated, normalized, and labeled for the product. Some foods exist as paired entries (for example, dry versus cooked) because water weight changes every nutrient-density number.

3.3 Custom ingredients you create are your data. Global-catalog provenance standards do not fully apply to them.

3.4 To the maximum extent permitted by law:

  • nutrient values may be incomplete, rounded, averaged, outdated, or mismatched to the specific product, cultivar, fortification, or recipe you consumed;
  • bioavailability, cooking losses, fortification changes, and lab-assay differences are often simplified or omitted;
  • scores that use catalog data inherit these limits;
  • Optimal does not warrant that catalog data are fit for clinical diet prescription, allergen medical management, or regulatory labeling of commercial food products.

If you require clinical-grade analysis, work with a qualified professional and primary laboratory or label data.

3.5 USDA FoodData Central materials are used as a composition reference under that source’s terms. Our selection, curation, software, copy, and trademarks remain our intellectual property or that of our licensors. Attribution to USDA FoodData Central does not mean that source’s publisher endorses Optimal. Users must not scrape or resell the catalog in violation of the Acceptable Use Policy.

4. Educational Content

4.1 Learning Center and similar entries explain nutrients, patterns, methodology, and pregnancy-nutrition topics in accessible language. They are educational and general. They are not individualized care plans, dosing orders, or diagnosis.

4.2 Help materials are intended to teach you how to use the product. Health-adjacent Help pages should carry or link the Medical Disclaimer.

4.3 We distinguish four kinds of statement:

  • Your logged data: figures computed from what you entered in the product. Still limited by log quality and model assumptions.
  • General guidance: established nutrition knowledge or public guideline-style ranges. Not personalized medical advice.
  • How our models work: descriptions of scores, ratios, or optimizer objectives.
  • Uncertainty: missing data, conflicting sources, low confidence, or active scientific debate.

Do not read general guidance as a personal prescription, or uncertainty as settled clinical fact. Community posts are peer experience, not editorial science.

4.4 Prefer primary guidelines, systematic reviews, or well-established public-health sources. External links can break or change. We are not responsible for third-party pages.

4.5 Staff and contributors should not imply medical licensure they do not hold. Guest contributions, if any, should carry a byline and credential scope.

5. Commercial Versus Editorial

5.1 Nutrition science pages, scores, and independent educational entries are not for sale as clinical conclusions.

5.2 Certified, featured, or partner surfaces are commercial or quality relationships, labeled in context. They are distinct from independent educational entries. Compensation and material connections are explained in the Advertising & Affiliate Disclosure.

5.3 Material conflicts of interest must not silently shape Learning Center science entries.

6. AI-Assisted Content

6.1 The in-product AI assistant is generative. It can be wrong. It is not a licensed clinician. Treat its replies as informational only.

6.2 Humans remain responsible for published Help, Learning Center, and other long-form safety-critical copy. Published articles should not pass off unreviewed model output as reviewed science.

6.3 A statement that your questions never leave your device, if we use that wording, applies only to on-device Help search. It does not apply to the AI assistant.

7. Community Content

Forum and other user-generated content is not held to Learning Center editorial review before posting. Moderation and the rule against peer medical advice live in the Community Guidelines and Acceptable Use Policy.

8. Corrections

If you find a catalog mismatch, broken citation, or educational error, please email [email protected]. For privacy concerns, please contact [email protected]. For intellectual-property claims, please contact [email protected] or [email protected].

We may correct, update, or retract material without prior notice.

9. What We Will Not Claim

Editorial and marketing surfaces should not:

  • claim to diagnose, prevent, or cure disease;
  • guarantee pregnancy outcomes;
  • present scores or grades as a diagnostic test;
  • present blood-marker comparisons as a laboratory diagnosis;
  • present AI conversations as a licensed clinician;
  • say that AI assistant questions never leave your device;
  • attribute endorsement by USDA FoodData Central’s publisher.
