Master Definitions
1. How To Read
These defined terms apply across Optimal’s public legal documents unless a specific document defines a term differently for that document only. Capitalized terms not defined here have the meaning given where they appear.
2. Parties
Optimal, we, us, or our means Nativity Ltd, trading as Optimal, Optimal Being.
you or User means the individual who creates an account, uses the Services, or accesses public pages.
Clinician or healthcare provider means your licensed medical or midwifery professional. Being Optimal is not your Clinician.
3. Services & Providers
Services means the Optimal pregnancy-nutrition platform, including the nutrition dashboard (planner), account surfaces, Learning Center, help materials, AI assistant, community forum, Certified / brand surfaces, APIs used by the product, and related documentation, as made available at beingoptimal.org and associated subdomains (including https://help.beingoptimal.org, https://community.beingoptimal.org, and https://assets.beingoptimal.org).
Authentication Provider means the third-party service used for sign-in and session management.
Database Provider means the third-party service used for the application database and related data services.
Hosting Provider means the third-party platform used to host the web application.
Cloud Infrastructure Provider means the third-party cloud platform used for backend compute and object storage.
CDN / Edge Network Provider means the third-party edge and DNS service.
Email Delivery Provider means the service used to send transactional email.
Email Design Provider means tooling used on our side to design email templates.
AI Model Providers means third-party large-language-model services used by the AI assistant.
Community Platform Provider means the forum software or host used for community discussions.
Reverse-Geocoding Provider means the service that converts device coordinates to place names.
Billing Provider means the external merchant-of-record or subscription billing service that processes paid plans.
The current named identity of each role is disclosed in the Sub-processor List.
Sub-processor means a third party engaged by Optimal to process Personal Data on our behalf, as listed in the Sub-processor List.
4. Product Terms
Environment means a user workspace within the product (for example, a pregnancy profile) that holds meals, journal, and related data.
Meal means an eating-occasion slot (for example, Breakfast) holding ingredient quantities.
Combo means a reusable dish or ingredient preset that can be loaded into a Meal.
Template means a full-day meal preset across slots.
Day Score or Grade means an informational nutrient-alignment score or grade produced by the engine for a logged day. It is not a medical diagnosis or clinical decision.
Special Category Health Data means data revealing health status or related sensitive categories under GDPR Article 9 and similar laws, including pregnancy timing (LMP/EDD), date of birth, ethnicity, weight, blood-marker labs, symptoms, and meal logs used for nutritional intake inference.
Nutrient Data Source means public or licensed nutrient composition data used in the catalog (USDA FoodData Central). This is not a Sub-processor of Personal Data.
Outbound partner click means a recorded click on a partner or affiliate link. Stored click records are designed to be pseudonymous. No user id is stored on the record, and IP address is used only transiently for rate limiting.
Task means a scheduled to-do or reminder item you create, distinct from the Journal: a Task records what you intend to do; completing it may write an ordinary entry to that day's Journal.
Wishlist means an optional registry of items you would like to receive, which you may share as a link. A person you share that link with, including someone without an Optimal account, may view the Wishlist and mark or note an item as purchased, optionally supplying a name or short message. See the Privacy Policy §9.3.
Personal API / MCP Integration means an optional, user-initiated capability grant (an API key you mint, or an OAuth connection) that lets a third-party tool of your choosing make read-only requests for your own account data. It is managed, and can be revoked, from your account's Integrations settings.
5. Data & Law
Personal Data means information relating to an identified or identifiable natural person under applicable Data Protection Laws.
Pseudonymised means kept under a code instead of a name or account id, where the code can be linked back to a person using a key or other information we keep separately. Pseudonymised information is still Personal Data. Anonymous means that nobody, including us, can reasonably link it to a person.
Data Protection Laws means applicable privacy and data protection legislation, including GDPR, UK GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, Singapore PDPA, the Australian Privacy Act, Hong Kong PDPO, and other laws referenced in regional annexes to the Privacy Policy.
Controller means the entity that determines the purposes and means of processing Personal Data.
Processor means the entity that processes Personal Data on behalf of a Controller.
Automated Decision means a decision or output produced by automated processing, as inventoried in Automated Decisions.
